Prof. D. Knittel received the Engineer diploma from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Physique de Strasbourg, France, in 1987 and the Ph.D. Degree from the University of Strasbourg in 1990, both in Automatic Control. Since 1992, he has been at University of Strasbourg, where he is currently Professor. His research interests include modelling, identification, robust control, control of large scale systems, design optimization, mainly for roll-to-roll systems. Since 1999 he has been the team manager of the ERT Project ”High speed handling and winding of flexible webs”.
